GINKGO BILOBA

While diet, exercise and a healthy lifestyle are the primary keys to True Wellness, it is often difficult to get everything our bodies need. Quality supplementation in the correct quantity and format is often required.

Today in the spotlight is Ginkgo Biloba – an ancient herb with over 30 years of extensive research shown to have incredible capacity to stimulate memory.

Ginkgo leaf contains antioxidant flavonoid compounds (also present in red grapes) called flavone glycosides that help strengthen capillary walls and reduce inflammation. The flavonoids found in ginkgo have a stronger biological activity than most other flavonoids, with a specific affinity for the capillary beds of the brain. A group of compounds called terpene lactones are unique only to ginkgo. These terpene lactones help thin blood to prevent clotting, thus improving blood flow to the extremities and brain. Antioxidant compounds in ginkgo act as free radical scavengers, protecting neurons from oxidation and improving microcirculation in the brain.

Ginkgo Biloba has also been found to be beneficial for treating tinnitus, headaches, hearing loss, depression, allergies, atherosclerosis, cardiac arrhythmias, diabetic peripheral vascular disease, eczema, glaucoma, impotency, retinitis, and neuralgia, as well as the first stages of Alzheimer’s disease. As with all herbal supplements, please consult with your practitioner if you are taking other medications to ensure no adverse reactions may occur. Could you benefit from taking Gingko Biloba? BOOK an analysis and find out!
